Ann Rhomberg, RN/MSN, is a Clinical/Health Care Research Associate who has worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for three years. Ann, a valued member of the ICTS Research Coordinator Core, was recently recognized as one of the top recruiters in the world for the North American arm of the Study Of Diabetic Nephropathy With Atrasentan (SONAR study). The clinical trial is posed to determine the safety of a new oral drug, Astrasentan, and its effectiveness at slowing kidney damage that often affects people living with Type 2 Diabetes and Neuropathy.
SONAR has reached over one-half of its recruitment goals and Ann is responsible for engaging subjects from the University of Iowa and VA hospitals to participate in the study. Associate Professor of Internal Medicine Bradley Dixon, MD, is the University of Iowa-based principal investigator for SONAR.
SONAR will ultimately recruit 4,148 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 85 from over 60 countries around the world.
